"The Phoenix" Book Review

Silvia Townsend Warner was born on December 6,1893, and died on may 1,1978, when she was 84. She was born in Middlesex, England. She wrote the short story, The Phoenix, in the year 1940 and won many prizes for it. She also wrote novels,, like, Lolly Wolves (1926), The True Heart (1929), etc. Talking about the short stories that she wrote, we can mention, Elinir Barley (1930), The Saludation (1932), and many others.
The story, "The Phoenix", is about a unique and rare bird, the phoenix, who was placed in an aviary by Lord Strawberry, a bird lover and colleccionist, with an infinite love and passion for the birds. So, Lord Strawberry built an aviary which all birds would find comfortable and would love to live there. Talking about the phienix, he was placed in that wonderful habitat by Lord Strawberry after spending two years with him in Arabia to gain its trust. But Lord Strawberry's unexpected death separated them. The phoenix landed on the hands of Poldero, te evil owner of "Poldero's Magic Wizard Wonderland", his abusive ownership of the Phoenix begins.
The plot is full of drama, Poldero is a rich old man whose only interest is money. The phoenix is not only rare and beautiful, he is also silent. Lord Strawberry is not only kind, he is caring.
To sum up, the book is a great example of sadness in stories, if you love sad stories, I would really recommend it.
