Resolviendo Problemas

La anchura de mi calle es de 20 metros y, colocándome en el centro de la misma, puedo ver los edificios de ambos lados bajo un ángulo de 60 grados y otro de 45 grados. Calcula la medida de los dos edificios.

Lo primero que tenemos que hacer para resolver este problema es graficarlo para tratar de entenderlo y ser capaces de resolverlo.

Si traducimos lo que dice el problema a un dibujo nos tendría que quedar así.
Podemos ver que la recta AB mide 20 metros, el problema dice que estamos parados en el centro de la calle (la mitad) ósea que AC mide 10 metros, al igual que CB. Ya tenemos todo lo necesario para resolver el problema, tenemos que utilizar SOHCAHTOA para poder descifrar cuánto valen X e Y.

Haciendo estas cuentas no damos cuenta que cual de los dos es mas alto.El mas alto tiene una altura de 17.32 metros.    

Green Eyes

In the language class with Andrea we were given the task of writing a story for our school’s writing competition.

I chose: “I will never forget that day”

                                     

     I will never forget that day, that dark, depressive day. The worst day of my life had begun two weeks ago, on March twelfth 1936. My son and I decided to go hunting for his birthday, it was supposed to be his first time hunting and killing an animal to process it and eat it. He was so excited, I could see it in his big, round, pearly green eyes… sometimes I wish I could have done something to save him…

       It all started when we entered the forest, we were planning on hunting a deer, nothing big. I am an expert at hunting, I easily located a deer’s trail and started tracking it while my son watched me with admiration on his face. It all went downhill from that point. My son said he heard weird noises even maybe due to the wild animals in that forest.  Out of the blue, my son, my son stopped talking so I turned around only to see him being grabbed by the neck by a bulky old man.  Adrenaline kicked in and I rushed towards the man, threatening him with my rifle, although that was futile since he didn’t even flinch. Dizziness flowed through my body as I got closer to them, until I unavoidably passed out.

      I woke back up alone at my house’s doorstep, I quickly got up and saw two weird balls and a note that said “thanks for the delicious meal and happy hunting! I left the left-overs as a gift.” It turned out, that those balls were actually green eyeballs...
